About LeNA
Our History
The Lethbridge Nepalese Association (LeNA) was established in 2010 by a small group of Nepalese immigrants who recognized the need for a community organization to support new arrivals and preserve cultural traditions.
From its humble beginnings with just 15 families, LeNA has grown to represent over 200 Nepalese families in the Lethbridge area, becoming an integral part of the city's multicultural landscape.
Our Objectives
- Preserve and promote Nepalese culture, traditions, and language
- Support new Nepalese immigrants in their settlement process
- Foster connections within the Nepalese community
- Build bridges with the broader Lethbridge community
- Provide educational and professional development opportunities
- Organize cultural events and celebrations
- Support humanitarian initiatives in Nepal
Community Involvement
LeNA actively participates in local community events, including the Lethbridge Multicultural Festival, Heritage Day celebrations, and various charity initiatives.
Our members volunteer with local organizations, contribute to food banks, and participate in environmental clean-up efforts, demonstrating our commitment to giving back to the community that has welcomed us.
Cultural Preservation
At the heart of LeNA's mission is the preservation of Nepalese cultural heritage. We organize language classes, cultural workshops, and traditional celebrations to ensure that our community, especially the younger generation, maintains a strong connection to their roots.
Through festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and Teej, we create opportunities for our community to come together, celebrate our shared heritage, and introduce Nepalese culture to the broader Lethbridge community.
